Hyomin earned her PhD in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (advisor: Andrew Pickering) after receiving her B.S. in Biological Sciences from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.

Hyomin earned her PhD in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (advisor: Andrew Pickering) after receiving her B.S. in Biological Sciences from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.

Hyomin specializes in Historical/Social Studies of Science and Technology.
Her research synchronically and diachronically examines how policies, regulations and media influence public understanding of science, technology and medicine.
